HR Games – Regional Competition: UNR Teams Place in the Top
5/2/2005 For the sixth time, UNR business students participated in the regional HR Games competition. The HR Games are a jeopardy-style competition and are organized by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). SHRM is the international organization for Human Resource (HR) professionals with about 300,000 members worldwide. The winners of the state competitions advance to regional competitions. Nevada belongs to the Pacific West Region. The winners of the regional competition participate in the national competition at the annual international SHRM Conference. [more info]

10/18/2004 John Atterbury, Group President of Operations for SBC Communications, spoke on campus today to business and economics undergraduate and MBA students. In a 10 a.m. presentation on “How to Win by Managing through the Three R’s -- (Economic) Retraction, (Government) Regulation and (Technological) Revolution,” Atterbury gave a history of SBC Communications, which is number 33 on the Fortune 500 list.

Mining companies help MBA program
2/10/2004 Newmont Mining Corporation and Barrick Goldstrike Mines, Inc., have together pledged $51,000 to the University of Nevada, Reno’s master of business administration program in Elko, announced Mike Reed, dean of the College of Business Administration. The money will be paid over three years and goes toward the fourth round of the MBA Program the college has offered in Elko. [more info]
