Millennium Scholarship - Legislative Fact Sheet of Program Changes.

UNIVERSITY GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS

General Scholarships are awarded to any qualified, admitted student regardless of major and residency. Typically international students are not eligible for general scholarships. These scholarships are awarded primarily based on academic merit, which for incoming freshmen students are their college entrance examination scores and their high school grade point averages. Transfer students are evaluated on their transfer grade point averages. Continuing students are evaluated on their University of Nevada grade point averages only. The average general scholarship is $1500 for the academic year.

DEPARTMENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Make sure to fill out the COBA Scholarship Application before February 1, 2008.

Departmental scholarships are awarded to any qualified, admitted student, regardless of residency, who has declared a major in a particular college. These scholarships are funded by private donations from individuals and businesses. The College of Business Administration (COBA) is very fortunate to have a substantial scholarship base from which to provide awards to their qualified students. These scholarships are available for graduate students as well as undergraduates.

Students are selected for scholarships based on recommendations from the College of Business Administration Scholarship Committee. This committee is comprised of representatives from the various disciplines within the college. COBA scholarships are also awarded primarily based on merit, i.e., high grade point averages and earned credits at the University of Nevada. Involvement in campus student organizations is also a plus! While financial need may also be a factor in some selections, it is not the primary selection factor.

Because most COBA scholarships are designated by donor criteria for declared majors within the college, it is important for COBA students to finish their pre-business core and formally declare their major. This can be done through the Dean’s Office/AB409. International students and graduate students are eligible for many of COBA’s scholarships, so it is wise to apply.
