About COBA...

The College of Business Administration is housed in the Nazir Ansari Business Building. Many of the classrooms have Internet connections, audio and video projection systems, and built-in podiums containing such equipment as electronic presenters, microcomputers, VCR/CD players, and connections for personal laptop computers.

In an attempt to keep up with the latest technology, the college maintains several information technology laboratories available to students. These include the general-purpose microcomputer lab, the Internet development lab, the networking and telecommunications lab, and the telecommuting lab. These networked facilities are all connected to the Internet. They house approximately 100 microcomputers and other devices, and provide access to a wide variety of software applications and databases.

The faculty at the Business College is an accomplished dynamic group of professionals dedicated to providing the highest quality education possible. The faculty members hold Ph.D.'s from some of the world's leading institutions and most have practical work experience in their fields-experience that fosters ties to the business community both locally and nationally. The college also has several specialized organizations with which students can become involved.

The Center for Logistics Management was established in 1988, combining the resources of the business community and the University to focus on the field of logistic management.

The Institute for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming was formed in 1989 with the mission of broadening the base of knowledge and understanding of gaming and public policy in Nevada, the U.S., and throughout the world.

The Nevada Small Business Development Center (NSBDC) is a cooperative effort between the University and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Counselors provide services to existing and new small business enterprises throughout the state by helping them through all individual service areas, including assistance with business startup, sources of capital, marketing, financial analysis, invention assessment, planning for growth, computer systems, environmental compliance, and personnel issues.

The Bureau of Business and Economics Research (BBER), founded in 1956, is the applied research unit of the College of Business Administration. It provides a large array of research services, publications, and consulting for private, local, state, and national business and governmental entities.
